Every year, 1.7 trillion gallons of water is wasted in the United States. Common household activities such as washing dishes, showering, flushing toilets, washing clothes, and watering yards are some of the main reasons that so much water goes to waste. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average person wastes up to 30 gallons of water per day. Is it any wonder so much of the globe struggles with water scarcity? Here in Southern California, we are especially prone to the effects of water shortages and droughts.

Here at Yorba Linda Pines Apartments, we are taking the necessary steps to do our part in protecting the environment and in living green. Here are three ways we live green at Yorba Linda.

We Reduce Water Waste

Since Yorba Linda is prone to droughts, we have taken action to reduce water waste used in landscaping. We have done this by planting drought-tolerant plants that don’t require much water, implementing a drip irrigation system, and replacing grass and mulch areas with beautiful stone. These actions have allowed us to significantly reduce outdoor water usage and waste used every day.

We have also taken measures to reduce water usage indoors too! We have done this by using low-flow toilets, which use about 20 percent less water than regular toilets. Most toilets use about 3.5 gallons of water every time they flush, but not ours: Each low-flow toilet can surprisingly save up to 13,000 gallons of water per year.

We Reduce Paper and Plastic Waste

At Yorba Linda Pines Apartments, we are living green by taking everything—rent payments, service requests, applications, and notices—online. This effort to go paperless has not only made a large impact in our efforts to reduce paper waste, but it has also allowed us to provide a much more convenient process for our residents. We have also taken measures to reduce plastic waste by making a water bottle refill station easily accessible on our property.

In our community, we strive to provide quality services to help make your life as a resident a little easier. Visit our new resident portal to pay your rent online, enter a maintenance service request, browse our calendar for upcoming activities, and much more!

We Encourage Recycling

We are also doing our best to promote green living by encouraging recycling here at our property. Recycling bins are conveniently located in our office. Items you can recycle include plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, paper, and flattened cardboard. However, you cannot recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.

Here in Yorba Linda, you can take your recycling locally to Sanchez Recycling Inc. Making this small change in habit can make a big difference to our planet.

We’re Excited to Announce Organic Waste Recycling!

Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate! This initiative will help keep millions of pounds of food waste out of landfills and turn them into compost and renewable natural gas. You can learn more about organic waste recycling here. We’ll keep you up to date as this program expands throughout the state.

We are excited to be actively doing all that we can to be living green. If you are looking for a place that cares about the earth as much as you, Yorba Linda Pines Apartments is the perfect place for you!
